Evaluation
During several phases in the project I evaluated prototypes, themes, ideas and concepts. By evaluating on my work, I ensure that my designs become better and more detailed in the next project phase. I will summarize the evaluation of the Mixing barrel prototype in a test session with children and the final concept evaluation with the project client. The realized prototype was tested and evaluated. The interaction proved to be a lot of fun for the children who participated in the tests. They were excited and showed a lot of enthusiasm by dancing and laughing. Still, there were some points that need to be improved. It was not clear yet that the air from the pump flowed through the pipes, filters and determined the color and sound of the mix. To solve this problem, a light array must be added to the pipes, communicating the path of the bubbles. The effect changes in the music will be made less subtle for more direct feedback.
The project was evaluated with the client at the end. The final design is expected to become a very good addition to the new recreational park. It motivates active play and stimulates park guests to work together to compose a piece of music. The theme complies to the regional culture and is capable of triggering the imagination of the guests. The created level of interactivity makes this attraction suitable for use in a regional park where most of the visitors have year passes.
